We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Britney Campbell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Britney below.

Alright, Britney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

I moved from my hometown at 39. It was 2019 and I had been feeling stuck and unfulfilled for a while. Overall my career was going well, I had a group of amazing friends, and by all accounts things couldn’t be better, yet deep down I felt there was more out there for me without knowing exactly what that meant.

In the Spring of that year, something very strongly called me to reach out to a close relative who is a realtor to just discuss the possibility of moving to Nashville — a neighboring city to my hometown. He was beyond elated, as he had seen this vision for me for many years and been waiting for me to finally go for it.

It took a couple of months to talk to my family and friends because honestly there was the doubt I wouldn’t go through with it, so saying it out loud to those I care for the most made it real. Now I was accountable for taking this leap.

During the summer my journey to find the new place I would call home began. My cousin and realtor looked at many Nashville area neighborhoods until we found the perfect spot west of downtown. It was (still is) quickly growing with all the amenities, not too youthful, not too stagnant—the ideal kind of activity and energy for a single gal on the brink of turning 40.

That August I closed on my perfect little place and was moving by Labor Day weekend with my perfect little dog, Gertie!

Just as I was settling in, learning my neighborhood, and getting through my first holiday season in my new home, I was about as happy and excited for this chapter as I was for the opportunities that would come.

The new year 2020 was quietly celebrated and soon after the news of a pandemic was hitting every media outlet. I had just found community in a women’s co-working space on my neighborhood called Collective615 and signed for my membership the day the world shut down for quarantine.

In a time of such uncertainty, I leaned into this community hard! I hadn’t spent a lot of time building new relationships, so I didn’t really know many people, especially women. But I did know this group would be the ones to provide the support I needed when in-person connection was limited or restricted.

Kathy, the owner of Collective615, was quick to pull her small membership (she had literally just opened her space before the pandemic) to action by tapping us as resources to provide educational content and create connections. It was a brilliant move to allow us to build a network of women business owners and professional partners, who as a bonus also became incredibly close friends in the process.

This network and time spent engaged with these women became the inspiration and catalyst for a brand that would launch a year later called Her Bank.

At the time, I had 20 years of banking experience with Legends Bank, a local community bank in middle Tennessee. I worked with other women who also had a wealth of knowledge and banking expertise. These trusted, long-time co-workers would become the co-creators of Her Bank by Legends Bank and through a very fun, strategic, and purposeful process, we launched the brand in May of 2021 to a room full of people in one of the first large public events post-pandemic.

Since the brand launch, it has been a thrilling ride. It re-launched me personally and professionally, catapulting me into places I’d never dreamed. Podcasts, publications, speaking and leading workshops, and meeting so many incredible people along the way.

The version of myself two years prior could have never imagined a global pandemic to a banking brand for women being launched in that timeframe—but she’d be proud!

She’d be proud of the courage it took to move from the hometown she’d built her life and career in, and for making the decision to choose more for herself.

She’d be proud for the risk taken against fear and doubts to see what was on the other side. For not accepting failure as an option, but being open to the possibility that better was waiting for her along and all she had to do was choose and believe in herself.

It’s now 2024, and I’m still someone who faces fear, insecurities, and imposter syndrome despite the success of Her Bank and my own personal growth in this chapter. However, I’m still also tenacious and bold enough to trust the process of leaning in and moving forward to see what awesome opportunity is waiting for me on the other side.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My passion is inspiring change through intention and connection. I love people and I want my impact to be making the world a better place for women and future generations while having lots of fun in the process.

I am the senior vp of marketing and public relations for Legends Bank and the co-founder of Her Bank, a brand designed for women by women to provide a better banking experience.

I started at Legends Bank as a freshman in college and worked my way up through various roles as a teller, personal banker and in loan administration before landing my dream job of in marketing. It was what I majored in and allowed me to use my education creativity and love for people to build my career and serve the bank at the highest levels.

My banking experience and aspiration to see women have more access to financial resources inspired the concept for Her Bank and with our team of incredible bankHers, our mission is to support women on their journeys to improve their financial well-being.

We offer traditional banking services with a personalized and tailored approach because as women, we understand the complexities of the financial landscape and want to make conversations and decisions around money easier, so that more women can live their lives on their own terms with more confidence and financial security.

I am proud to work along side some of the most talented, compassionate, and knowledgeable bankers. I get the unique perspective of seeing both sides of the customer relationship and journey, which I love. Many of our customers are our friends and being able to walk in lockstep with them through their lives and in business is incredibly special to us.

We value our relationships and it’s important that our customers and future customers know that supporting local businesses and organizations is a love language between us and our community! The Her Bank community is a growing group of women dedicated to our collective success by being resources and a thriving network of connections to build meaningful relationships that support you and your business.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I had a really strong network in my hometown of Clarksville which isn’t too far from Nashville where I live now. My career had been built on relationship building and being a connector for others, which I’m really passionate about. I have a solid reputation in my community having served in leadership roles on many boards and committees for various organizations and local events over the past 20 years.

That translated well when I moved as one of my first goals was to find community and like-minded/hearted people I could connect with and foster those relationships organically and as soon as possible.

My love for connecting with people combined with nurturing relationships being part of my role at the bank has created opportunities for me to engage people in a way I may not otherwise.

My love for community drives me to foster connections in an authentic and intentional way, but that can only go so far.

People have to trust and feel you are a reliable partner who values integrity in your work and these have to be reciprocal in order for the relationship to thrive.

I believe all of this has served me well in building a reliable reputation within my community in the greater Nashville area and beyond.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

I’m a big fan of podcasts because you can find almost any subject or expert and dive in without a lot of time commitment.

When I do “read” it’s typically an audiobook and these are some of the top books that I’ve come back to over the years!

• Dare to Lead by Brene Brown
• Professional Troublemaker by Luvvie Ajayi Jones
• The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
• Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein
