We had the good fortune of connecting with Britney Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Britney, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
Moving out of my hometown at 39 to pursue a new chapter in Nashville.
Although an hour away, it was a major shift in most every aspect of my life and created a completely new environment for me socially and professionally.
Living in one place your whole life where you built your career and relationships was comfortable, yet I became uncomfortable and felt restless; wanting something different—something that was fulfilling and more than what I was currently experiencing.
Deciding to move away from family, friends, and some of my co-workers was emotionally challenging, but I trusted my intuition enough to know it was the right decision for me.
It was a difficult, but exciting decision that landed me in Nashville months before a global pandemic, and ended up being the right combination of circumstances that propelled me into my greatest chapter yet!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Day to day looks very different in my world, which is the fun part of marketing and representing your business—always something new and you’re never bored.
I’ve dedicated my banking career doing what I’m most passionate about in the space of creativity, human connection, heart-led leadership, and education.
As a marketing leader at a growing community bank, busyness is a combination of activities around strategy, ideation, collaboration, relationship building, business development, and all the other little things that keep the marketing engine running.
I love what I do because of what we represent as a bank.
We’re not just helping customers manage their money—we are supporting dreams, providing advice, and are a part of someone’s journey through various stages and milestones in their life where their financial well-being matters. We also enrich the economic strength of our business community, therefore, improving the quality of life where we live, work, and play.
Understanding the role banks play in people’s lives, I saw a unique opportunity to apply my passions and expertise to benefit women. Inspired by other women’s stories and my own personal experiences, I had the privilege of collaborating with some of the best bankers to create Her Bank, Legends Bank’s sub-brand and division for women.
While this beautiful brand has grown over the last 3 years with women across our community seeing banking being reflected in a way that feels safe, inviting, and empowering, it has also added depth to my role as a banker in the most incredibly rewarding way.
Busy for me, professionally, is just doing what I love in abundance every single day, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to do this work and serve people in way that supports their success.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fun question and it TOTALLY depends on the type of friend! Now that I’m in my 40s, I’m definitely more into a softer and sophisticated vibe, so I would highly recommend sticking to the local spots like coffee at a nearby Frothy Monkey or Honest Roasters.
For nightlife, I love the Nashville pop-up bar /rooftop experiences at some of the downtown area hotels like Fairlane or Dream Hotel. For fine dining and entertainment in a sexy atmosphere, I wouldn’t miss an evening at the Twelve Thirty Club which is also in close proximity to all the honky-tonks and popular spots on Broadway.
If you’re hanging out for a few days, we will not miss good southern food, so a trip to Loveless Cafe would probably make the itinerary as a classic Nashville staple!
And to take the adventure a little off the traditional Nashville path, I would recommend a day to explore downtown Franklin and Leiper’s Fork for some good eats, historical sites, and shopping!
In our time together, we will be supporting local women-owned businesses from shopping to food, and experiences!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
